No one can overcome any obstacle without being resilient. Resilience is your ability to bounce back from any and everything. It is your ability to get back up on the stage of life after you have been booed off. It is your ability to get back to your place of strength quickly. It is your ability to get back in your flow with little down time. The key to resilience is knowing what does it for you - what takes you there - what gets you up - what brings you out. For me it is writing. Whether it is a song, poem, or just something inspirational, writing puts me back in my place of strength. It reminds me of who I really am, where I'm really going, and why I'm really here. Check out this spoken word piece: "The Identity" Everyone needs a system of resilience in their lives. We all need to know how to manage our obstacles and use them to accomplish and even accelerate our goals. Unfortunately, we all don't know how and sometimes make irrational decisions and unhealthy choices that cost us things we can't get back, sometimes even life itself. Fortunately, we all have the ability to learn and grow from everything that happens in our lives. We've been given the power to adapt and change to accommodate our own personal growth and development which, in turn, affects everyone around us. Over the course of life, I have discovered 12 principles that encourage and facilitate this process. In a few days, I will begin releasing one of the 12 principles of resilience on this blog each day for six days. I want to invite you to first of all participate in this discussion by sharing what your system of resilience is. Secondly I encourage you to invite others to this discussion, especially if you know they struggle with overcoming obstacles. Thirdly I would love to have your input and feedback on the principles I will be sharing each day. Thanks to all who will join me in this dialogue! |
